Energy Grants Available in Vermont
The government is big on energy these days, which is why they are now offering so many energy grants to states.
One such state, Vermont, has been awarded about $50,000 in stimulus grant money and are now seeking towns who are interested in making energy efficient upgrades to their public buildings. The type of projects seeking funded will usually include small scale weatherization upgrades, such as eliminating drafts, adding insulation and tightening up attics and basements.
This free grant money is part of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (part of the federal economic stimulus package of 2009). Windham Regional Commission will pay for up to 80% of the total of a projects cost with the remaining 20% to be paid by the town.
Every town within the Windham Regional Commission is eligible for the grant money except for Brattleboro. Brattleboro has already received funding for energy upgrades. The grant money will typically be used for projects located in town halls, town garages, and schools.
To be eligible for this free grant money, interested town must have their applications into the WRC office by 5 p.m., Aug. 27.
